Glasto 09

Well as Charlie said Andre, Joe and myself have spent the last 5 days at the 2009 Glastonbury Festival, 5 days of Great Music, Drink, Rain, Thunder Storms, Mud, Sun and Mayhem!

SHOWBIZ Glastonbury 1

Although it took a good 8 hours to get there, at least 4 of which were spend queuing for a coach at the train station due to a traffic accident, we finally got there and set up camp in a great spot and made friends with the neighbours, who ended up referred to us as ‘the piss heads’.

The festival kicked off on Thursday with a over crowded Queens Head stage with Maximo Park as pretty much everyone went to this tiny stage to see them, but they did sound good even though we couldn’t really see anything! We Have Band followed who I’m really liking at the moment, then the rest of the day was spent singing ‘total eclipse of the heart’ and raving it up in random dance tents including a bit of breadyman.

Thursday night it decided to bucket it down which flooded out our tent and left the site very muddy! But the rain and mud didn’t stop us checking out Dan Black, Gabriella Climi, The Maccabees and a bit of N.E.R.D. and eventually the sun came out so we could enjoy one of the favourite acts of the festival White Lies, who were amazing. We then rushed over to the Pyramid Stage for Lily Allen who also was really good. Then reconvened to watch The Ting Tings and Bloc Party on the Other Stage, which for all of us was a bit hazy due a few to many jagger bombs, but what I do remember was good!

Thursday started by recovering from the night before in the sun and then trying to make the best choices out of the clashes, and ended out seeing a bit of Metric, Passion Pit, and Rusko followed by a sick set by that Rascal known as Dizzee, although he needs to brush up on his MJ songs as he looked a bit blank on one of the MJ tribute songs his DJ played! During the day this crazy Scottish crew member with the most un-understandable accent I’ve ever heard, told us that Arctic Monkeys might be playing one of the special guest spots, this turned out to be wrong but we did get to see The Klaxons wich was cool.  After this we decided against Kasabianand Bruce Springsteen and headed again to the Other Stage to mosh and rave it up to Pendulum who were amazing and did a really good remix of Calvin Harris’s ‘I’m not Alone’. Franz Ferdinand followed who also pull out all the stops with a sick set, I would have enjoyed it more if I didn’t need a piss throughout half of it!

Saturday night was boiling in our mud splattered tent meaning a lack of sleep, which lead to a slow start on Sunday by sitting through performances from the likes of Caspa, Brand New, Enter Shikari and a great set from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but did mean we missed Madness, Filthy Dukes and Just Jack. We then chilled by the Jon Peel Stage and then saw The Wombats who were really good, but the tent was so hot we ended up sitting out side to watch them. Then the big decision came Blur, The Prodigy, Black Eyed Peas or Calvin Harris… We ended up choosing Prodigy which I really enjoyed but we were told that Blur were really good to. We then planed to start a camp fire and then watch the sun rise, but the heavens decided to open again which stopped that!

This morning we packed up as quick as possible thinking the queues would be a nightmare, but actually turned out to be ok! All was going well and the journey only took about 4/5 hours, until I realised I had left my backpack on the first train containing my trainers, mag-light and the other memory stick for my camera containing the first half of photos/videos I’d taken while at Glasto, Stoked! I’m hoping it will end up in Padington’s lost property, but don’t look good at the moment! So half of my photos I took are probably lost which ain’t good as I was planing on doing a Joe Show Glastonbury special, but I might have to see what I can do out of what I’ve got left.  For people eager to see some pictures the photos that I’ve got will go up on facebook (and possibly a few here) as soon as I go back to Guildford to get the cable.

But overall Glastonbury 2009 was absolutely incredible, and now I’ve had a shower I wish I was back there!

In other news I’ll hopefully put together a Joe Show for you tomorrow at 6.00pm and Charlie has either left or leaving soon for Roskilde Festival in Denmark featuring loads of great bands and DJs such as Petshop Boys, Slipknot, Coldplay, Deadmau5, Royskopp and Nine Inch Nails, so I sure he’ll have many great stories, reviews and photos for you guys.  Few… over and out!!

Boys At Glastonbury

Glastonbury 2009

So this morning I believe, Andre “Carvo”, Adam Goatman and Joe from The Joe Show have all gone off to spend a long weekend at Glastonbury Festival.

Some of the highlights of this year could be Blur, Madness, Pendulum, The Prodigy, 2ManyDJs, Crookers and DJ Yoda to name a few. But with so many good acts playing this year, I wonder who the boys will pick and choose.

Have fun, and get Dirty.
