Machotaildrop Première Review
Just got back from the Machotaildrop Première over at Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square, which sold out all 285 seats. Here’s a little write up review type thing that no one will probably read!
After a brief introduction from John Rattray, Machotaildrop was right underway. A brilliant fantasy comedy that was not too heavily focused on the actual skateboarding, and more on the industry and culture behind it.
The story tells of a young boy Walter Rhum (Anthony Amedori) on his path to every skaterboarders dream of becoming Pro for the company Machotaildrop run by the Baron (James Faulkner). Along the way he meets his favourite skater Blair Stanley (Rick McCrank) which he is soon to knock off the top spot. Whilst an anarchical gang named Manwolves are forced to attempt to destroy Machotaildrop, Walter finds out about the unprecedented truth behind the company and how his own mentor George’s (Steve Olson) hero is left with no future.
The cast was amazingly fitting for the film, featuring such great skaters as Steve Olson, Rick McCrank, Frank Gerwer (the horseman!) and previously mentioned John Rattray. I must give credit to Steve Olson who provided one of the best narrations to the film that I’ve heard in a long time. Also in the cast was the amazing filmer and videographer French Fred (Fred Mortagne) and the Hollywood oldie James Faulkner, not to mention the only female in the cast (and incredibly attractive) Vanessa Guide.
Once the movie had finished Alex Craig, the co-director, opened the floor for questions which revealed some interesting facts about the production of the film. One of which was that the total budget grew to a huge $1million USD by the time the film came to an end, and how not all of that budget was attained legally! This is easy to see as some of the locations are so extraordinary and beautiful that it must have cost a small fortune to be able to film there.
There is more than a possibility that this feature film will be released on DVD with 40minutes of extra footage, but when was not disclosed. But keep your eyes out for it, as this is a film not to miss.
Element Europe – Tetuan Madrid
Just got back from the Annual Warlingham Council meeting, and it looks like Mint Walk is definitely going to be rebuilt as a small concrete park which is amazing news.
Hopefully it will turn out looking like this!
Oh dear..
I’m used to seeing those stupid ads on the side of web pages saying ‘I got ripped in 5 weeks click to find out how’, but not used to seeing these…
